Moonlight was nominated in the Best Picture category alongside Arrival, Fences, Hidden Figures, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, La La Land, Lion, and Manchester by the Sea. The original 1985 movie was nominated in the same category at the Academy Awards, suggesting the 2023 adaptation will have similar recognition.
